is a former partner with Kilpatrick Stockton LLP in
Winston-Salem. He joined the predecessor firm of Kilpatrick
Stockton in 1979 as an associate, became a partner six years
later, and practiced with the firm for an additional sixteen
years. Robert served as an executive-in-residence at Salem
College from 2000-2006, where he taught business law,
communications law and corporate finance.
Robert has extensive experience in corporate law, mergers,
acquisitions, dispositions and commercial transactions. As head
of the corporate finance department in the Winston-Salem office
of Kilpatrick Stockton, he managed bank, public and private debt
and equity financings, asset and stock acquisitions and
dispositions by public and private companies. He advised
numerous boards of directors of public and private corporations.
Robert is a Phi Beta Kappa graduate of the University of
North Carolina at Chapel Hill, where he earned a B.S. in
business administration in 1975, and a master’s in business
administration and a juris doctor degree, both in 1979. He also
was elected to Phi Eta Sigma and Beta Gamma Sigma and was a
Business Foundation Fellow in MBA School.
Robert is active in the Winston-Salem community, where he
served on the Board of Trustees, the chairman of the finance
committee, and president of the Board of Trustees of The
Children’s Home, Inc. He has also been an active member in
Centenary United Methodist Church where he served in various
capacities, including chairman of the Board of Trustees. He has
coached numerous youth basketball and baseball teams. He and his
wife live in and reared their two children in Winston-Salem.
Robert holds an AV rating from Martindale-Hubbell and is
included in Best Lawyers in America and Swathmore’s
Who’s Who.
